The signal box is very special in that its concrete blocks where cast at Melton Constable works. William Marriot and his concrete works were very important in the development of the concrete as we know it today, he was a pioneer in concrete sleepers and generally casting concrete with metal reinforcements. The signal box is now being restored by a local signal enthusiast group since it was decommissioned in 2000."
