English: Mallaig Station
A Glasgow train awaits departure from Mallaig. Note the snowplough - an essential requirement on the West Highland Line during the winter months. The railway to Mallaig, built in 1901, was instrumental in the town's development as a fishing port and until 1966 the railway extended beyond the station to the pier. Today, however, the fish traffic goes by road.
