Summary

Description

Tangram construction (make a set of tans) with annotated line segments.

It's not difficult to make your own set of tans (of any size) with only a compass and a straight edge.
The shapes are a construction of straight lines and bisections.

Proportions:

  • a-b = b-j = j-h = h-a = 2
  • be = e-j = j-i = i-h = c-g = 1

Drawing:

  • Draw a rectangle with sides = 2 x any length.
  • Find mid points of b-j and j-h.
  • Draw b-h.
  • Draw e-j.
  • Draw from a to center and continue until e-i.
  • Draw a vertical upwards from g until it touches b-d.
  • Draw a line from i at right angle to i-e until it intersects with middle of h-d.
This line if continued should intersect middle of a-h.
