English: Official description: Ickes son receives rifle medal - Major general Emile P. Moses, Commanding General of the Parris Island, Marine Barracks hands an "expert" rifleman medal to Private First Class Raymond W. Ickes, son of Honorable Harold L. Ickes, Secretary of the Interior, Pfc Ickes' platoon also fired highest qualifiying percentage in recent range history with 100 per cent of the Platoon qualifying. Ickes was a graduate of the University of Chicago in 1939 with A.B., M.A. and J.D. degrees.
