Description
English: Mahmud Tarzi (23 August 1865 – 22 November 1933), photographed here with his wife Asma Rasmiya, was one of Afghanistan's greatest intellectuals. He is known as the father of Afghan journalism and theatre. He became a key figure in the history of Afghanistan, leading the charge for modernization and being a strong opponent of religious extremism and obscurantism.As a 1975 source, this picture taken in 1922.
