Description

Stamp of Perak (one of the former Federated Malay States); 1950; definitive stamp of the so-called "Coconut issue"; stamp with a portrait of Sultan Yussuf Izzuddin Shah ibni Al-marhum Sultan Abdul Jalil Karamatullah Nasiruddin Mukhataram Shah Radziallah (1890—1963) in oval flanked by two coconut palms; The Sultan wears the tall white Tengkolok of the Sultan of Perak.
Special features of this stamp: a) Dashed background lines around headdress to create a luminous aura around the head.; b) A wider gap between the medallion rim and the background lines within the medallion to give more of the three-dimensional relief as characteristic of a real medallion.

Printer Originally the "Coconut-issues" of the Malay States were printed at "Thomas De La Rue and Company Limited, London". However, the printery building of "De La Rue" in London was 1940 at a German attack complet destroyed, so that the production of further issues of the "Coconut issues" for the Malay states were outsourced to "Harrisons and Sons" (most issues) or other British printeries.
