Summary

Description

messenger RNA - large family of RNA molecules that convey genetic information from DNA to the ribosome, where they specify the amino acid sequence of the protein products of gene expression

Five prime cap - mRNA Processing

five prime untranslated region - region of a messenger RNA

coding region - portion of a gene's DNA or RNA, composed of exons, that codes for protein; composed of codons, which are decoded, translated into proteins by the ribosome; begins with the start codon and end with a stop codon

three prime untranslated region - sequence at the 3' end of messenger RNA that does not code for product

polyadenylation - addition of adenosine to the end of a mature mRNA
English: Diagramatic structure of a typical human protein coding mRNA including the untranslated regions (UTRs).It is drawn approximately to scale. The cap is only one modified base, average en:5' UTR length 170, en:3' UTR 700.
