Description
English: So-called “Ludovisi Throne”: right-hand panel, a woman wearing a tunic and a cloak places incense in a thymiaterion (incense-burner). Thasian marble, Greek artwork, ca. 460 BC (authenticity disputed). Found in 1887 during public works in the Villa Ludovisi.
Français : Trône Ludovisi : panneau de droite, une femme vêtue d'une tunique et d'un manteau place de l'encens dans un thymiaterion (encensoir). Marbre de Thasos, œuvre grecque, vers 460 av. J.-C. (authenticité contestée). Découvert en 1887 lors de travaux publics à la Villa Ludovisi.
Italiano: Trono Ludovisi: bassorlievo destro, una donna (sacerdotessa-sposa) con chitone e mantello rialzato sulla testa che pone in un bruciaprofumi grani di incenso presi da una pisside. Marmo tasio, opera greca, 460 a.C. ca. (di autenticità contestata). Si dice sia stato rinvenuto nel 1887 durante i lavori di urbanizzazione della Villa Ludovisi.
