English: A schematic of a rear-view Low-Energy Electron Diffraction instrument for mounting on a vacuum chamber. Main parts are the electron gun with focusing electron optics, retarding field analyzer for filtering out all but elastically scattered electrons, and positively biased fluorescent screen.
