Summary

Description Lot-9425-9: Ace of Aces. U.S. Navy Lieutenant Edward H. “Butch” O’Hare, USN, pilot of a single seater fighter plane, shot down five Japanese bombers and damaging one other in one day during a United States and Japanese engagement near the Gilbert Islands in the Pacific – a record bag for one day in any war. For his actions, he was promoted and received the Medal of Honor. Of note, on November 26, 1943, while leading a night mission against enemy aircraft in the Pacific, he was shot down an ensuing air battle and lost.
