English: Site of Longtown station, 2000.
View northward from the A6071 bridge over the former railway and River Esk. Longtown station was on the ex-NBR Waverley Line (Edinburgh - Hawick - Carlisle), which was closed from 6/1/69 along with this station. However, the branch line Longtown - Gretna, which served the major Gretna Munitions Factory (established in 1915), remained although it was closed to passengers from 9/8/1915.
