English: Longriggend Desolation With virtually nothing to see on the landscape, this former site of opencast workings and a light railway tell you what should be here, however scrubland and a railway line that needed no cutting or embankment simply blends in with the vista. Interestingly - although unseen in the photograph, the path shown in the OS map was paved with bricks for its entire length across the scrubland, leading one to believe it was built specifically for workers to reach the opencast works adjacent (and now disused), and to cope with a high volume of foot traffic.
