Français : Maison un peu isolée, sur la mangrove à Petite-Anse. Ici, les maisons poussent comme des champignons, sur un terrain à 10-20 cm au-dessus du niveau de la mer. Des "promoteurs immobiliers" peu scrupuleux revendent des "terrains" parfois 300 US$, avec une carcasse de maison dessus. Et il faut encore payer pour avoir de la terre pour combler les inondations et avoir une voie d'accès. A défaut de terre, des ordures, qui donnent à l'eau une couleur verte ou orange...
On peut voir la marée (50 cm - 1 m) faire monter et descendre l'eau dans ces chenaux. Au prochain ouragan, cette zone sera sous l'eau... et ses habitants plus pauvres que jamais.
English: An isolated house, built in a mangrove forest in Petite-Anse, Haiti. Here, houses grow like mushrooms, all built on a plot of land that is only 10-20 cm abouve sea level. Scam artists, calling themselves "property developers," unscrupulously sell plots of land like this for as much as $300. The tide moves up and down very unpredictably, leaving shacks like these vulnerable to hurricane and flood damage. |
