Summary

Description

The first U.S. Air Force Lockheed XF-104A Starfighter prototype (s/n 53-7786) on Rogers Dry Lake, Air Force Flight Test Center, Edwards Air Force Base, California (USA).

  • The XF-104 was easily distinguished by the lack of inlet shock cones and the short fuselage. This aircraft crashed on 11 July 1957 due to uncontrollable tail flutter. The pilot, Bill Park, ejected safely.
