English: This 1890 watercolor by Charles Reinhart depicts Lieutenant Lion Gardiner and his forces clashing with Pequot warriors at Saybrook Fort. Mat inscribed: Lieutenant. Lion Gardiner (and his forces) Attacked by "Pequot" Indians at Saybrook Fort, 22 Feb 1637 (Pequot war). Watercolor on paper. 8 1/2 x 11 in. sight.
