This 5mm blossom is one of those mysterious little "weeds" often found in moist grassy areas. It is a pantropical species that was introduced into North America. This species has changed families a few times so you may find it listed as a member of the Plantaginaceae, the Scrophulariaceae or more recently, the Linderniaceae. It is common on grassy trails used by vehicles so it's seeds may hitch rides in the tire treads. In Asia, there are several medicinal uses including poultices for boils, sores, ringworm and general itches.
