LINCOLN
SHIRE.
By H. Moll Geographer.
Saxon Coin struck at Lincoln

At the Bottom of this Map is Engraven
A PERPETUAL TIDE TABLE for
Foss-dike & Cross-keys Washes in this County. Shewing from the
Moons Age the Exact Time of Full Sea of ye beginning & ending of
the Wash, or when Travellers may safely pass over.
NB. The Variation that may sometimes happen in ye Tides are by reason
either of Land Floods, or contrary Winds, for if ye Wind blows strong
at N. by W. or N.N.W. it will bring in ye Flood sooner by half an Hour
or sometimes an Hour. On ye contrary if it blows hard at S. by E.
and S.S.E. it will not flow so soon by near an Hour.
I judg it highly acceptable to Travellers to insert this usefull peice communicated
by Dr. Stukeley the use of which is this. the two first Columns contain ye age
and appearance of the Moon over against it is the hour & minute when
it is full sea at Fossdike and Crosskeys Washes in this County, when ye
Wash begins to serve for passing over and when it ends, example I am
to pass over the Washes Nov. 7. 1723. looking at the Almanac I find
the last quarter of the moon is the 8th day consequently this is the 22.
day of the Moons age over agt. which in this table its full Sea 48. min. after
XI a Clock Fosdike Wash begins 48 m: after 2 Crosskeys 18 m: after 3 Fosdike
wash ends 33 min: after 9 Crosskeys 23 m: after 8 & so of any other day which a
little consideration will make perfectly easy to the meanest capacity.
