Summary
[edit]This image, made in September, 2010, shows the inside of the flank magazines of Btty Lincoln, Pit A, now used by the maintenance staff of the Governors Park Condominiums. This view looks easterly.
The two original doorway openings for the shell room (left) and powder room (right) are visible, as is the original I-beam on the ceiling at left, which was used for the shell hoist/trolley that brought shells from the magazine to the covered walkway (foreground) and then via shell carts to the mortar pit. Originally these two rooms had rolling steel doors on them. The modern overhead garage-type door (left) and regular door (right) are behind the camera.
This view extends all the way to the back of the powder room, at right. The shell room (on the left) was used prior to and/or during WW2 as a rifle or pistol range and has a bullet-pocked steel plate at its far end.
