Summary

Description
Français : Diagramme montrant une coupe verticale à travers une ligne de grain (orage) ou un système convectif de méso-échelle. On y voit la circulation de l'air et les zones de précipitations :
  1. Un courant-jet entrant arrière ;
  2. Un flux ascendant de l'avant vers l'arrière ;
  3. Une dépression dans le sillage, à la surface à la bordure arrière de la pluie stratiforme, associée au réchauffement de l'air non saturé du courant-jet entrant arrière ;
  4. Un anticyclone de méso-échelle sous la zone de pluie torrentielle convective ;
  5. une faible dépression due au réchauffement de l'air par compensation à l'avant du front de rafales ;
  6. Une faible dépression au niveau moyen de l'atmosphère (D3), apparemment due aux effets hydrostatiques, dans le flux ascendant près de la zone convective ;
  7. Un dépression de méso-échelle près de la zone de fonte (bande brillante) (D4) plus étendue que la précédente ;
  8. Anticyclone (A) au sommet du nuage, particulièrement important avec un complexe convectif de méso-échelle.
English: Conceptual vertical cross-section of a trailing stratiform Mesoscale convective storm flow structure:
  • A descending mesoscale rear inflow jet (RIJ)
  • An ascending front-to-rear flow
  • A "wake" low (L) occurs at the surface of the back edge of the stratiform rain, in association with warming due to unsaturated descent
  • A mesohigh (H) occurs below the convective region.
  • A weak mesolow (L1), associated with warming by compensating downward motion is often noted ahead of the convective line at the surface.
  • In the midtroposphere a small, apparently hydrostatic mesolow (L3) is located below the primary sloping buoyant convective updraft.
  • In the vicinity of the melting layer or just above, is another mesolow (L4) that is larger in scale.
  • A mesohigh at upper levels (H) atop the mesoscale system becomes particularly well marked in the case of mesoscale convective complexes.
