Summary

Description
English: Nameplate of Dr. Werner Liebenthal, Notary & Advocate. The plate (20 X 50 cms.) was hung outside his office on Martin Luther Str, Schöneberg, Berlin. In 1933, following the Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service the plate was painted black by the Nazis, who boycotted Jewish owned offices. Liebenthal was banned from his profession on the 6th of July, 1933. [1]Liebenthal removed the plate and subsequently left Germany to Palestine in 1939. Since then the plate has been kept by his daughter Hanna Liebenthal.
