Lewis Alsamari is an Iraqi-British award winning actor, Producer and published International author currently living in the UK best known for his leading role in the Oscar-nominated, critically acclaimed feature film, ‘United 93’. Lewis, an ex-soldier and a qualified lawyer retrained as an actor in 2003 at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts - LAMDA. Lewis starred in the award winning BBC TV movie ‘Occupation’. Other credits include BBC’s Spooks, Last Flight to Kuwait and Black September.

Since then, in addition to his film appearances, his career has included several independent feature films, Television productions and the Edinburgh Fringe First winning play ‘What I heard about Iraq’. Lewis’s autobiography ‘Out of Iraq’ (renamed in the USA as ‘Escape from Saddam’) has been published to considerable interest by the Random House Group and is now available in over 50 countries worldwide. He is a distant cousin of the legendary Iraqi singer Kathem Al Saher, both real surnames being Al-Samarrai.
