Lecanora pulicaris (Pers.) Ach., 1814

Photograph of a herbarium specimen taken through a dissecting microscope (x25), showing apothecia with reddish-brown to dark brown disks and smooth rims.

This specimen of Lecanora pulicaris was growing on bark near the Endless Mountain Retreat, south on County Road 601, approximately 2.4 miles from US 250 in Highland County, Virginia, USA.

Spot tests on the thallus: PD+ red, K+ yellow, C-.

Collected and identified by E.C. Uebel (No. U-416, 8 Jun 2002).
