Description Leahy Meets with SCOTUS Nominee Chief Judge Merrick Garland - WASHINGTON (THURSDAY, March 17, 2016) – Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) THURSDAY met with Chief Judge Merrick Garland, President Obama’s nominee to the Supreme Court of the United States. The meeting in Leahy’s office on Capitol Hill was the first official meeting that Judge Garland held with any member of the Senate as the President’s nominee. Leahy is the Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
