Summary

Description
English: Leaf galls on oak At the base of the leaf, galls can be seen; several more of them were present on the same oak sapling. They are produced by the gall wasp Andricus curvator, and have distorted the leaf, pulling the surrounding tissue towards the midrib. The swelling was equally apparent on the underside, where a small, neatly-rounded exit hole was clearly visible, suggesting that the wasps which developed inside these galls had already departed (the wasps, which have powerful jaws, chew their way out).
