Statue d'une Muse (Polymnie ?) Marbre (Parian marble) Il s'agit d'une copie romaine d'une statue créée par Philiskos de Rhodes au 2ème siècle et transportée à Rome. Elle a été découverte via Terni

La statue montre une jeune femme perdue dans ses pensées et appuyée sur un rocher. L'identification à Polymnie, la muse de la rhétorique n'est pas certaine. C'est un des chefs-d'oeuvre du musée.


Le centre d'exposition des musées du Capitole dans l'ancienne centrale thermoélectrique Giovanni Montemartini à Rome est un exemple étonnant d'un site industriel transformé en musée. Il a ouvert en 1997 avec l'installation de centaines de sculptures antiques. Cette centrale électrique, mise en fonctionnement au début des années 1900, a été la première à Rome.
