Description Engraving by Le Clerc - according to the study published - The Early Days of the Académie des Sciences as Portrayed in the Engravings of Sébastien Le Clerc by E. C. Watson in Osiris 1939 7:556-587  :- "the characters include BOREL, BOURDELIN, DODART, Du CLOS and MARCHANT, in addition to PERRAULT, DUHAMEL and GALLOIS. The figure seated at the table with book in lap and flask in hand is Du CLOS, the man seated beside him is MARCHANT, the figure seated at the right of the table and pouring a chemical from a small bottle into a glass is BOURDELIN, and that the two figures at the right of the plate are DODART and BOREL."
