Summary

Description
English: View of base of the fallen corolla of a flower of Latua pubiflora ( Griseb. ) Baillon ( Solanaceae ), showing hairy bases of stamens fused to corolla tube as ribs conferring structural rigidity / strength. Corollas of this species usually fall carrying with them the attached stamens, but leaving behind the persistent magenta pistil still attached to the nascent fruit. Note also the dense pubescence clothing the exterior of the corolla - whence the specific name 'pubiflora'.

Corollas of the pendent flowers of Latua pubiflora generally wither from the limb upwards to the tube, the tubes of the fallen corollas then often retaining their attractive magenta colour for a time.
