The first of the three known prototype '2.5 Litre' saloons, this very car - chassis number 'LBS EX1' - was seemingly left behind when W.O. Bentley and Donald Bastow quit the new Aston Martin Lagonda concern. The accompanying history file speculates that 'LBS EX1' was converted into its current sports-racer guise thereafter and presented - alongside a rival Aston Martin proposal - to David Brown as a potential 1949 Le Mans 24-hours entrant.
