Statue of the Marquis de Lafayette by Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi, with granite pedestal designed by H.W. DeStuckle. The statue was cast in 1873 and dedicated in 1876, and was a gift to American citizens from the French government, and the pedestal was paid for by French citizens residing in New York City.
