Français : Hameau de La Fière et des marais du Merderet inondé. Le pont à gauche de la photo était l'objectif du 1er bataillon, 505th PIR, 82nd Airborne lors du débarquement de Normandie. Le lieu fut l'objet de combat important pendant plusieurs jours.
English: Hamlet and bridge of La Fière (on the left) and the marshes of the Merderet river flooded like they would be in early June 1944. The bridge was the DDay objective of the 1st bataillon, 505th PIR, 82nd Airborne division. The place saw heavy fighting between US paratroopers and the Germans army.
