English: CONSTRUCTED IN 1845 IS ONE OF ONLY SIX HOUSES WITHIN THE CITY OF CHARLESTON THAT DATE TO BEFORE THE CIVIL WAR. IT WAS ORIGINALLY CONSTRUCTED AS A TWO-STORY FEDERAL STYLE RESIDENCE, WITH ADDITIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS MADE IN 1915 AND 1936. DURING THE WAR AN INTERESTING EPISODE OCCURRED WHEN CONFEDERATE GENERAL WISE WANTED TO USE IT AS HIS HEADQUARTERS BUT REBECCA LITTLEPAGE REFUSED. HE ORDERED IT DESTROYED BUT SHE STOOD ON THE FRONT PORCH WITH HER 6 CHILDREN AND NO ONE WOULD FIRE ARTILLERY AT THE HOUSE
