Summary

Description
English: San Miniato (Pisa). LIFE ZEOWINE is a demonstration project financed by the European Community that aims to improve the protection and management of the soil, the health of vines and the quality of grapes and wine, through the application to the soil of the innovative product ZEOWINE derived from composted waste matter from the wine production cycle plus zeolites. In the photo the mineral Zeolite joins the grape waste. The microporous structure of the zeolites allows to absorb or filter liquid or gaseous molecules; in fact, in the soils they absorb water and release it slowly thus avoiding, in hot periods, an excessive dryness of the soil. The zeolites retain the nutrients preventing the latter from being washed away with the rain, a soil rich in zeolites needs less fertilizer. These minerals also act as pH correctors and temperature stabilizers.
