Summary

Description
English: The submersible 'Austria Sub' encounters a baseline transponder of its AquaMap long-baseline (LBL) acoustic positioning system in Lake Constance (Austria). Baseline transponders are reference points for navigation, and acoustically measuring the distance to these points establishes the current position of the submersible. Tethered by a short (2m) anchor line and a weight to the sea floor, the station is buoyed by its yellow flotation collar, keeping it stable in the water column like an underwater antenna tower.
