English: Kvitsøy church is thought to be commenced before 1591, but was completed with the altar and pulpit about. 1620. It has changed somewhat the shape and look after this.
In 1797 it was restored, and in 1841 it was expanded and capable set. In 1959 the church was redecorated and ranked Koren on the ship's long walls from 1716 was brought on. Dåpssakrestiet came also as a new extension. 1797, and in 1841 it was expanded and renovated. In 1951 the church was renovated. Koren ranked in the ship's long walls (painted rose) from 1716 was then developed, and dåpssakrestiet came as a new extension. baptismal Font The church has a baptismal font made of soapstone from ca.1100-century. It was originally in St. Clements Church, a small stone church that stood near the stone cross in the fairway Strait. altarpiece Originally altarpiece from ca. 1620 has been on the Norwegian Folk Museum since 1902. It was in 2003 returned to church again. Church altarpiece from 1902 to 2003, a copy of A. Tidemanns, "Resurrection," which was painted by Laurits Haaland. It has now been placed in the chapel. In connection with the return of the original altarpiece has Kvitsøy church underwent extensive repairs to ensure a climate that does not damage the beautiful decorations. |
