Fair use in Shisei Kuwabara
[edit]This image, Kuwabara-minamata.jpg, is being linked from Shisei Kuwabara; though the picture is subject to copyright I believe it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- it is a low resolution copy of a book cover;
- it does not in any way limit the rights or impede the efforts of the copyright owners to claim ownership of or derive income from the book or incorporated photograph;
- copies could not be used to make illegal copies of the artwork in any saleable form.
The image provides visual evidence (at least to those who can read Japanese) for the existence of the book and the set, while the selective focus on the eye (visible even within the tiny version of the image as shown within this article) renders the humanity of the patient. -- Hoary 09:29, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
Licensing
[edit]This image is of book cover(s), and the copyright for it is most likely owned either by the artist who created the cover(s) or the publisher of the book(s). It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of book covers
qualifies as fair use under the copyright law of the United States. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, might be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. | |
