Summary

Description
Svenska: Kornguden i Vånga avbildad i Karl Torins uppsats "Kornguden i Wånga" i Västergötlands Fornminnesförenings Tidskrift tredje häftet (1877) sidan 60. Tryckt i Lund.
English: Kornguden i Vånga (i.e. "the Corn God in Vånga") depicted at page 60 in Västergötlands Fornminnesförenings Tidskrift (1877). "The Corn God" is a statue of an apostle (probably Saint Paul) that until 1826 was standing i the parish church of Norra Vånga, Skåning hundred, former Skaraborg county, the Diocese of Skara, Västergötland, Västra Götaland county, Sweden. It is told that the statue was used as an idol or an heathen cult image by the farmers in the parish. They called him "The Corn God". One morning each spring they took him out of the church and carried him around the fields to ensure a good harvest. In 1826 the statue was sent to the museum in Skara.
