English: "Knowledge and Understanding", known locally as "Books", is a public sculpture by Diana Bell in Bonn Square, Oxford, UK. This was a gift to Oxford from Bonn in Germany, to celebrate sixty years of twinning between the two cities. The sculpture represents two stacks of books embossed with words such as "Knowledge", "Trust", "Friendship"; in English on one stack, in German on the other. A plaque nearby on the ground explains the purpose of the piece.
