Summary

Description
English: Address: 112 S. Fifth Street, Louisville, Kentucky. A horse and carriage and three cars are parked in front of the Kenyon building which is announced by a sign painted on the side of the building. The stone and brick building, designed by architect Mason Maury in the Richardsonian Romanesque style, has large plate glass windows on the first floor and an ornate ironwork piece in the arched entryway. The second story includes tri-partite windows inside three large arches. A turret spans several stories along the left side of the building. Two men in suits and hats stand on the stairs in front of the building. A sign painted on a window of the first floor indicates, "W. L. Lyons & Co. / Members New York Stock Exchange, Louisville Stock Exchange, Chicago Board of Trade." Window signs on the third floor advertise for Walter S. Adams Co., a real estate agent, and Continental Life Insurance Company. Neighboring buildings include Block, Fetter & Trost, an investment firm, and Commonwealth Life Insurance Company. The building, Louisville's first skyscraper, was demolished in 1974.
