This is the second ticket office built on this station since the station opened in 1856. The original ticket office building and station master's house is still standing on Platform 2 (Caterham platform) mostly in its original form but now privately owned and no longer in railway use.
This newer building was built in 1899 when the Caterham branch line become double-track working.
