He is renowned for the quality of his outdoor sculptures. It dates from the period 950-970. Jainism was founded in the 6th century BC by Mahavira (599-527 BC), who was a contemporary of the Buddha. Both opposed the caste system, the power of the Brahmins and Hindu rites. Non-violence (Ahimsa) is one of the foundations of the Jain religion. According to Wikipedia, Parshvanâtha (Parshvanath) - in the 8th or 7th century BC. AD - is an ascetic member of the Licchavi clan, who is said to have founded an order comprising 8 communities. This temple was dedicated to him in the 19th century, this ascetic was the inspiration for the Jain religion.
