DescriptionKELLY'S CAMP HISTORIC DISTRICT, FLATHEAD COUNTY, MONTANA.jpg
English: GLACIER NATIONAL PARK; LOCATED ON THE WEST SIDE OF LAKE MADONALD ROUGHLY OPPOSITE THE LAKE MCDONALD HOTEL. FRANK KELLY HOMESTEADED THE LAND IN 1895 AND HE OPERATED SOME SCENIC BOATS ON THE LAKE UNTIL THE 1920’S WHEN HE BUILT SOME CABINS FOR RENT PLUS A BIG HOUSE. SOME OF THE PROPERTY WAS SOLD TO THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE AND OTHERS HAVE CHANGED HANDS IN THE 2000’S
THIS IS A VERY HARD SITE TO FIND. IT IS ONLY REACHED BY A ROUGH GRAVEL ROAD WHICH IS UNSIGNPOSTED. THE SITE ITSELF HAS NUMEROUS NO TREPASSING SIGNS SO IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET CLOSE TO VIEW THE 12 LOG STRUCTURES OR THE BIG HOUSE.
