English: Sculpture of Jupiter Tonans at Museo del Prado (Madrid, Spain).
Español: Escultura de Júpiter Tonante en el Museo del Prado (Madrid, España). Puede que esta obra fuera la imagen de culto del templo consagrado a Júpiter Tonante en Roma. En tal caso, sería la mandada a esculpir por Domiciano en el siglo I para sustituir, con leves variantes, la estatua de Leocares (siglo IV adC) instalada en el santuario por Augusto, su fundador. Llevaba el rayo en la mano derecha y apoyaba la izquierda en un cetro, iconografía desconocida por el restaurador barroco a quien se deben los brazos.
Français : Sculpture de Jupiter Tonnant au Musée du Prado (Madrid, Espagne). Cette œuvre était peut-être l'image culte du temple dédié à Jupiter Tonnant à Rome. En l'occurrence, il s'agirait de celle que Domitien fit sculpter au Ier siècle pour remplacer, avec de légères variantes, la statue de Léocharès (IVe siècle av. J.-C.) installée dans le sanctuaire par Auguste, son fondateur. Il portait l'éclair dans sa main droite et appuyait sa main gauche sur un sceptre, iconographie inconnue du restaurateur baroque à qui les armes sont dues.
