Description
Deutsch: Junkers Ju 88 A-4 des KG 54 (Kampfgeschwader 54), mit vermutl. gelbem Wappenschild und 3-farbigen Spinnerringen eine Maschine vom Stab der III./KG 54, Kennzeichen B3 + QD (der Buchstabe 'Q' als Individualkennbuchstabe eines Flugzeuges in der Staffel wurde selten benutzt). Ju 88 A-4 mit 2 x 1410 PS Junkers Jumo 211 J 12-Zylinder-V-Motoren. Ort der Aufnahme unbekannt, ca. 1942.

Zwischen 1940 und 1945 befanden sich mehrere mit Junkers Ju 88 ausgerüstete Kampfgeschwader auf dem Fliegerhorst Giebelstadt, südl. Würzburg (Unterfranken/Lower Franconia, Bayern/Bavaria), dies waren:

  • I. und II./KG 76,
  • Stab und I./KG 77,
  • III./KG 1,
  • Stab und I./KG 54 ab Sept. 1944. Das KG 54 hatte zuvor die Ju 88 des Geschwaders (siehe Foto) abgegeben, nachdem die Umrüstung u. Umschulung auf die neue strahlgetriebene Messerschmitt Me 262 in Giebelstadt befohlen war. Dort wurde das Geschwader, dem neuen Einsatzprofil Jagd- bzw. Jagdflieger entsprechend, am 01.10.1944 umbenannt in Kampfgeschwader (Jagd) 54, kurz KG(J) 54.
