English: Dupré concentrated on marine painting during the last twenty years of his life. He acquired a house at Cayeux in 1865, returning annually. These late paintings are characterized by low horizons, intense colors, and thick, impasto effects. Here, the golden orb of the sun silhouettes the fishing boats and is dramatically reflected in the clouds above.
