Description
English: Jug, Pratt ware. "Admiral Nelson jug with Nelson on one side and Captain Berry on the other". Pratware- Lead-glaze earthenware made at Lane Delph (later Middle fenton), Staffordshire, at the factory founded c. 1775 by William Prat, and taken over his elder son Felix in 1810. Later the ware was copied by other local potters. It has a lightweight cream-coloured body, and its characterized by relief decoration in conjunction with underglaze colours, mainly brownish ochre, dull blue and green; the principal wares are jugs, oval plaques and figures " (Savage and Newman, 1974, p. 232)
