Description
En el inventario del Marqués Leganés se le nombra como retrato del “enano del conde de Olivares”, denominación que posiblemente se debía al parecido con el valido del rey. El cuadro formaba parte de una serie de ocho retratos de bufones muy conocidos de la Corte (al menos dos de ellos pintados por Velázquez, según el inventario) que se ubicaban en la casa de campo que el marqués tenía en Leganés. Se trata de un retrato de una factura extraordinaria en el que destaca el delicado detallismo con el que está tratado el terno y especialmente la fuerza expresiva del retratado.
