English: Joseph ("Joe") Aea (1859 or 1858–1911) was a member of the Royal Hawaiian Band, during the time of the monarchy. He was a friend of Queen Liliuokalani and accompanied her to London in 1887 and Washington in 1895 and was caretaker of the Queen's finance; his son Joseph Kaipo Aea was the adoptive son of Liliuokalani. In 1900, he was chosen as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, and in 1902 and 1904, he was elected as a member of legislature. He died in January 25, 1911 leaving his wife and two children. From the newspaper article on his death.
