English: John Lions was an Associate Professor at the School of Computer Science and Engineering in UNSW. John was well-known for his impactful teachings and for his line-by-line commentary of the Unix V6 source code, also referred to as the ‘Lions Book’ which became the ‘The Most Famous Suppressed Manuscript in Computer History. 2021 year marked the 45th anniversary of the Commentary, and the 25th anniversary of the book being officially published.
On May 27th, 2021 the John Lions garden was rededicated with new illumination on the tree. These 16,000 lights represent a small fraction of the number of alumni whose Johns work and life had touched.
