Description
English: Photo of assistant surveyor John Alexander Pope (of Detroit, Michigan) (4 August 1906 – 18 September 1982) who was a member of the Morrissey Expedition (also known as the Putnam-Baffin Island Expedition) engaged in the geographical exploration of Baffin Island during the Summer of 1927. Photo included in p. 14 of Scrapbook from Morrissey Expedition.
Mr. Pope later worked at the Freer Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. and was appointed director in 1962.
