English: According to (19th century?) inscription on base of picture frame). By unknown painter. Collection of Fulford family at Great Fulford House, Dunsford, Devon. Col. Francis III Fulford (1666-1700) of Great Fulford, twice MP for Callington in Cornwall in 1690-5 and 1698-1700, married as his 1st wife (according to his History of Parliament biography) Margaret Poulett (d.1687), daughter of John Poulett, 3rd Baron Poulett (c.1641–1679), of Hinton St. George. However his mural monument in Dunsford Church states "He was twice marri'd. First to Margaret a daughter of John Lord Poulett the 2d Baron of Henton StGeorge". This portrait appears to depict a middle-aged man in the style of dress of the Civil War period, which suggests the 2nd Baron. |
